I ...You make a number of very interesting points. I do believe that most managers resist, for whatever reason, taking a collaborative approach to planning for sales calls. Coaching to me is an integral part of any leaders role...in sales its even more important. Yet, most managers take a "dont question me" approach to "collaborating" with their reps. The reality is that no ONE person can see every sales cycle from every possible angle. Multiple perspectives, whether it be from a manager or a peer, can be instrumental in winning business. The best managers I had always added value without diminishing my credibility.
